Too Good to Be True
You have seen these ads in the classifieds or maybe on posting boards. They claim you can work from home or work just a few hours a week and earn upwards of a six-figure salary. While these ads may not be completely false, they are not being completely forthright, either. Think of it this way: If it were truly that easy for people to simply become a member of this company and earn six-figure salaries, wouldn’t you have met at least a few of these people in real life?
The fact is those companies look through all their data for sales completed by independent workers and only publicize the highest statistics; it is a loophole they use to attract people into their company. Such loopholes become apparent on television when you see all those lines of small print on the screen with phrases like “individual results may vary.”
Furthermore, some of these “get rich quick” deals require you to invest your own personal money. You are told in the sales pitch that you only have to invest a small portion and that you will be paid back upward of 200 percent. What they do not tell you is how long it will take you to see a return on your investment, or how much work you will have to put out in the process. Additionally, your investment will surely help their company, but you will most likely not see any income until after putting in more than your fair share of effort.
Do not let disreputable companies get your hopes up in a weak moment. During your career changing process, you need to protect your income and only invest in deals that will help you first. Do not allow a scheme to take control of your future.
